Psalm 37:1 (Amplified Bible) tells us to fret not. The greek meaning of fret is to blaze up, of anger, zeal, jealousy, to be angry, burn, be displeased earnestly, grieve, wax hot, to be incensed and kindle every wrath. Some of the synonyms are agitation, annoyance, harassment, irritation and worry. Agitation means, confusion disturbance and struggle. Does this describe your life? Oh, how it can be hard to not fret. However, the Lord is wanting you to walk out all of this in your life. This means that you will have to deal wisely, kindly, and without reacting to others in ways that would cause you to blaze up or be so mad that you can feel it in your soul.     How many times have you told someone to do something and they were determined to not listen to you and then they gave you an excuse why they did it their way? That is usually when you wax hot, blaze up, and begin to fret and it causes you to say things like, "But they make me so mad!" "Exactly", God says "fret not". What are you to do then, just ignore them? No! You don’t deal with things in anger but with facts and faith. Trust (lean on, rely on and be confident) in the Lord and do good, so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely in His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed (Psalm 37:1)

This takes your circumstances out of the hand of the flesh and closes the door to strife and the enemy of our souls. Glory to God!
The next verse tells us to "delight yourself in the Lord then He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart". The word delight means pleasure, enjoyment, joy and happiness. The opposite meaning would be discontentment and dissatisfaction. It is so easy to be discontent and dissatisfied with life and things around you. However, when you take pleasure in the Lord Jesus and His Word you will have joy. You won’t have to worry about those desires of yours, the Lord will give them to you. They will be yours automatically.
Verse 5 tells us to commit your way. The word commit means to entrust, delegate and to consign. The word entrust means to deposit with, leave with. There it is again, faith! When we are not walking according to our feelings and five physical senses we are pleasing God. You need to leave the request and burdens with God and believe He is who the word says He is. You can rejoice and be exceedingly glad because you have a life of living with God on an everyday basis which is founded on faith in Him.
