James 2:17 tells us that you can have knowledge and that you can
know the scriptures but until you put that knowledge into practice
it will have no power in your life. You will not have the benefits
of the knowledge you possess.
I remember years ago reading a book on how to shoot a rifle and the
safety rules for it. When each of my three sons turned thirteen I
bought them a .410 over and under shotgun. This kind of shotgun has
two barrels; one for shotgun shells, .410 under, and the other one,
a smaller .22 barrel on top. I would take my sons out to target practice
and teach them what to do and what not to do, until they were skilled
and safe. Years later I had moved back to Alabama and rented a nice
townhouse that had woods surrounding the back yard and big trees in
my yard. One spring morning, I went out the back door and there, on
one of the trees, was a huge snake. Now I cannot tell you what kind
of snake it was but it was big, real big. I had one of the boys .410's
in my house. |

I had the knowledge, I knew what the book said, but I never put
it to practice. I never used the thing. I found a neighbor that had
a BB gun so; he came over and very fearfully killed the snake. Later
in the day I called my oldest son who is a very good hunter and asked
him to teach me how to shoot the shotgun. He laughed at me and said,
"Right Mother." I had taught him the way but the knowledge
I had didn't benefit me because I didn't put it to practice in my
own life.
You have to take the Word that you know and learn along with the principles
of faith and use them and make them a part of your everyday life.
Begin to hear, speak, and act on the Word. It will bring you good
success! |
